“I’m already a giant squid top 100 club member on my main squidoo account: spirituality.
I had two decisions to make: should I split that account up, and if I did, should I go for giant? I decided to split the account up for administrative reasons as well as SEO ones. Over 300 lenses to one account means that the profile page is very inefficient from an SEO perspective.
My calendar lenses were doing well traffic wise, but I thought they’d likely do better when they were together on a niche profile. (more on the advantages and disadvantages of having several squidoo accounts: Advantages and Disadvantages of having several Squidoo Accounts
So, I decided to split up my account. In fact, I ended up with three squidoo accounts.
For my calendar lenses I knew I’d be able to go for giant: I had about 40 lenses about calendars when I split the two accounts up. I went for giant because for my calendar lenses the 9 link limit is a drag. I want to be able to link to as many versions of a product as I want. Since most of my calendars-affiliate programs are through shareasale, I wanted to be able to link more than 9 times to that site, per lens.
Of course I do realize I should still use caution in linking out more than 9 times to the same place: there are many scenarios where less is more. In fact, I find that sales go up with less products on a page. Still, I’m glad I made it to giant, so now the decision on how many products to list, and how to list them, is totally up to me again.
Oh, and that yellow star and badge are addictive! I think my lenses look less well without them
