This week we’re featuring five special LOTDs from guest a_willow, aka Michelle, who runs Fresh Squids. Fresh Squids is a program for new lensmasters and Michelle has selected five excellent lenses from new lensmasters to show off the great work that’s possible with a little help and a lot of love. Today’s feature is on dealing with the challenge of criticism.

*****

Every single person faces criticism during their life. In many cases we feel that our work or our deeds are constantly being scrutinized under a microscope and someone is always looking after us to tell us that we did “this” wrong or should do “that” differently. Well, there is a distinct difference between good and bad critics and we need to know how to handle each of them.

Lensmaster WritingAdventurist, aka Heather, is a teacher by profession and juggles the fine art of critiquing students. Her critiques must be constructive, and interpreted as such by her students, if she wants them to improve. She’s compiled her knowledge in this new lens, Dealing with Criticism.

Heather is a new Squid. she joined 2 months ago in late February and joined Fresh Squids soon afterward. She has been valuable to the Fresh Squid group by sharing her knowledge and teaching skills.

It’s tough to both give and receive criticism, but without constructive advice, we’re unlikely to excel. Thanks to Heather, Squidoo is now host to an excellent resource for learning how to give feedback on projects and learn from your mistakes, with no hurt feelings.

Tune in tomorrow for another amazing work of heart from a new lensmaster!
