When I first saw this I was puzzled. How to be annoying…was this a typo? Duh!

Lensmaster girlfriendfactory is channeling Homer Simpson to run us through Annoyingly Impaired 101, a three part study course.

I laughed out loud; it’s a good honest piece of fun. If you’re on the same wavelength you’ll love this. (If not it could REALLY annoy you!)

Mother Teresa; her name itself is shorthand for a good, humble, saint-like person, devoted to helping others. But how much do you really know about Mother Teresa?

Lensmaster SemperFidelis shares in detail her life, her writings, her work, and the reaction she generated in others. She tells us about the doubts that Mother Teresa had herself, and doesn’t shrink from the controversy that some of her actions generated. We also learn about India, where Mother Teresa worked, which helps our understanding of her situation and impact.

This is a really fascinating, well written and illustrated look at one of the great personalities of the 20th century.

When lensmaster tagsforkids started out writing lenses, his aim was to raise awareness of the Dog tags for kids program which support US troops and their families. Somewhere along the way he was hijacked by an army of squids, which grew into a whole town. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Squidville! This lens has amazing graphics, a wonderful sense of humor, and is just great fun!

Lensmaster Wordwinder says “Everything in existence…..has a wonderful tale to tell…if we care to listen.” He then tells us all about the apparently humble coconut, and it turns out that the coconut is actually a worldwide hero! Fascinating!

“Providence granting me a full and healthy life,
I would live to see a hundred summers as a tree.
Towering above the land around, I would have
Showered down over a 10,000 coconuts free.”

Wordwinder is a poet and he writes this entire lens as a poem with great illustrations. This is a truly original lens – I hope you like it as much as I do.

You’ve probably never heard of the Border Reivers, but you will know the word their activities gave to the English language- “be-reived”, ( bereaved in modern English).

For about 400 years, until the 17th century, the Reiver families roamed the lawless Border lands between England and Scotland. These Border clans were tough, wild and fierce. Their famous names, including Armstrong, Elliot, Graham, Nixon, live on there today. Lensmaster reasonablerobinson grew up in the Borders, and can trace his family to the Border Reivers. Their descendants emigrated throughout the world.

See if your name is a Border Reiver name- you might find, like astronaut Neil Armstrong, that you have Reiver blood in your veins!

Today’s LOTD pick comes with a lovely story from the nominating lensmaster:

“When I first arrived at Squidoo, theraggededge, aka Bev, was very helpful and a major part of why I stuck around Squidoo. I wrote a lens on a personal issue and Bev kindly critiqued my lenses, which have all improved tremendously. Because of her kind comments on my own lens, I found her lens on Abraham Hicks. It is just fabulous, and gives an understanding of the Law of Attraction, spooky…was I meant to join Squidoo and read THAT very lens?

“I am now on my 10th lens and I love the growth, knowledge and support Squidoo has given me. Many thanks, LisaAuch

It seems that the things that challenge us the most are the things we want most to do. Peregrina tells us about her walk from Le Puy to Santiago – a 940 mile pilgrimage beginning in southeast France.

In Chemin de St-Jacques/Camino de Santiago from Le Puy-en-Velay, Peregrina tells us of her reasons for wanting to make such a journey and the experiences she had along the way. For anyone wanting to give it a try, there are suggested guidebooks and language tips. For the armchair enthusiasts, there are beautiful photos of the French countryside.

When you’re done with this lens, follow up with Walking the Camino de Santiago Across Spain.

I’m jealous of my father’s ability to see a leaf and know which tree it came from or hear a noise and know it’s a snoring porcupine. Now there’s a chance for me to compete at least in the bird tweet category. Birding by Ear is a clever resource for learning, memorizing, and identifying birds by their tune.

Author kajohu explains why using sound can be a more effective way to identify birds and how to get started finding a variety of birds to practice on. What makes this lens a winner? The lensmaster has been there, done that, and infused their personality into the content.

While Sally sells seashells on the seashore, dustytoes is helping us identify our purchases. Seashell Identification, is a visual encyclopedia of one of our favorite collectibles.

Nominating lensmaster SkiesGreen writes, “This lens is simply wonderful. It’s unique and beautifully constructed with some great information on what we all love – seashells. Whether in pictures or
within one’s sight on a shelf or a beach we never get over the beauty and feel of one of nature’s greatest gifts. Shells are probably the most collected of all collectibles and this lens really shows why.”
