Fried or not, green tomatoes are not useless vegetables! The next time you come across one, don’t toss it. Mickie_G is making her LOTD debut with her tips for using underripe tomatoes in Green Tomato Recipes.
Whether you prefer them fried, sauced, or in a casserole, green tomatoes are surprisingly good for you and a tasty way to use tomatoes in a new way. Mickie also recommends some top notch kitchen utensils that will make your tomato and other cooking more simple and fun.

Usually, trees and vehicles don’t mix, but CCGal knows a place where you can drive through a tree and you won’t even bend your bumper.
Drive THROUGH a Giant Redwood Tree is about the tree remaining sequoias in the world, all located on U. S. 101, which are big enough to drive through and have a hole to do it with. After viewing the photos and videos of truckloads of people driving through these trees as if they were tunnels, driving through a tree in California might just end up on your bucket list.

Been travelling around a bit the past two weeks (Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam and Malaysia) so I have been wayyy out of the loop. Just got back to see all these crazy monsters and points and stuff.
Looks pretty sweet.
Pirates love Points. Wonder who will be first to level 80…
When lensmaster Gail47 wrote in to tell us she cares for her 87-year-old father AND her 3-year-old special needs grandson, my heart went out to her. I cared for my 89-year-old grandmother for four years until she had to move into a nursing home, and there’s no greater, perhaps more unexpected challenge.
Gail47, aka Edie, tells this story in Elder Care Tips and Topics which has gone beyond simple tips into daily living suggestions, adaptive device showcases, and photos that will make you smile and feel it’s all worth it.
As more and more young adults and empty-nesters are finding themselves caring for parents, or grandkids, this innovative lens is carving a solid niche for Gail as she shares her personal experiences and helps others thrive in this challenging and rewarding new task.
Talk about this LOTD on Facebook.
As our Squids well know, we’re always researching ways to optimize ads on lenses while protecting the sanctity of handwritten, non-advertising, original content.
This newest trial run is using the smartly evolving market.io technology to match a lens’s keywords to Amazon items. So if a lensmaster has a lens about organic pumpkin coffee beans, the market.io [...]
At Squidoo HQ we’re pretty proud of the tools we’ve developed that allow readers to share delicious recipes. The one technology we haven’t yet mastered is the Taste Module. Even without it, this recipe looks pretty good.
Deep Fried Ice Cream is Laddoo‘s explanation of and tribute to the crazy and incredibly delicious dessert. If you haven’t tried it, weigh in on the poll to state whether or not you’re willing. If you have, tell us what you think. You will even learn how to make this crispy treat – yup, you can do it at home – using common ingredients.
It’s a fried, flavor fiesta!

Have a tasty treat to share? Say hi to Laddoo on Facebook.
We love getting to know our lensmasters and a wonderful lensography and “about me” lens is the perfect way to help us doing. Today’s spotlight is on AJ Godinho and his lensography.
We learn that his life has taken AJ through Goa to Dubai to his current home of Canada, and that he’s definitely a hard-worker an go-getter. But don’t let me spoil it all, learn about AJ on your own and say hi to this prolific lensmaster and future Giant Squid!

It doesn’t take high traffic to get sales on Squidoo (or anywhere else online), it takes the right kind of traffic. My best lenses don’t get a lot of traffic, but the people who do find them are there because they’re looking for something specific.
If my lens has what they’re looking for, they will click through. When they click through, they will buy. That’s the secret, targeting buyers.
The narrower the niche, the more likely all of that is going to happen.
If you want to make sales on Squidoo, remember that secret when planning your lenses.
While you’re perusing the pumpkin patches and dressing up like werewolves, don’t forget another mid-autumn festival to have fun with.
Zhong Qiu Jie is the Mid-Autumn Festival in China is one of their three most important celebrations and it looks delicious. You’ll have to read the lens by Jimmie to find out why.
Not only is this a wonderful history lesson for us adults, Jimmie has incorporated her usual magic and made this a lesson for homeschoolers. In fact, her entire homeschooling niche has made her exceptionally popular on Squidoo.
Congrats to Jimmie on her first LOTD!

Nominate a special lens for LOTD. It could make you a star!
It’s easy to find stories about adults making a difference. After all, isn’t that what we’re supposed to do? But when we hear about kids who have the initiative, the support, and the pipelines to make a difference, it’s a beautiful thing.
Poutine is spotlighting Kids Who Make a Difference in solving everything from homelessness to hunger, to cancer awareness and comfort for our troops.
Nominating lensmaster ArtByLinda writes, “I just love how inspiring these young people are to all of us. Children that are making a difference in the world now, just think of how they are going to be changing the world for the better when they reach adulthood. The lensmaster that created this one did a wonderful job of highlighting each of these heroes.”
