Angels are a special group of Squidoo lensmasters who help us promote the best of what they find on Squidoo. They bless lenses to give them a little LensRank boost, nominate lenses for LOTD, and nominate awesome Giant lenses for purple stars. Plus, they sometimes run fun little contests, blogs, and lenses to promote special niche lenses that they’re passionate about.

If this sounds like something fun YOU would love to do, and you have not yet served as SquidAngel, you can apply to participate in the next round of 2010 SquidAngels!

Head over to the SquidAngel lens to leave a note. Include your username, email address associated with your Squidoo account, and list three…oh, well you’ll see the instructions when you get there. ;)

Applications close April 2nd and we’ll choose up to 25 new SquidAngels shortly thereafter. We’re looking forward to seeing a new group of Angels. Good luck!

Here’s a list of all the Squidoo Giant Squid lenses that were awarded Purple Stars during the week ending 3/26/2010.  As always, they appear in no particular order and each is worthy of a visit from you.

Not sure if a Giant Squid lens you’ve found is Purple Star worthy?

If a lens makes you think EVERYONE should read it, or if you think the lens is really creative, or if you publish a lens you’d be proud to show your high school English teacher;  NOMINATE IT!

You’ll know it when you see it!
And when you see it,  please take a moment to send it to purplestar@squidoo.com

“I have been working away, posting almost everyday on my new movie blog.  There is a lot of competition online in my movie niche and so I am fighting a tough battle with an occasional glimmer of hope. Spirituality suggested I promote my blog from within Squidoo and that I could send you a note for the Giant Squid Good News Blast and so here is my note for your consideration.
When writing my first blu-ray movie pages I discovered that there are a lot of blu-ray experts out there.  They are into the technology of blu-ray and do a phenomenal job of analyzing movies from that perspective but I found fewer people reviewing blu-ray on a more basic level and that is the niche I am trying to fill ~~ that of an ‘ordinary’ movie consumer who has learned something about blu-ray.  I am happy to share my knowledge and hope that my blog combined with my Squidoo lenses will help a few more people learn about blu-ray and about the movies that they are interested in.”
Yours in Squidoo,

Brenda

I just want to share how I feel at just having been awarded my latest Purple Star.

I would love to be able to thank the people who have nominated me, but as we
normally have no idea who they are I am hoping you will include this message in
the next Giant Squid Good News Blast:

"To each and every person who has nominated my lenses for a Purple Star, thank
you so much. I can honestly say that each email I have received from Robin and
Bonnie telling me of the award has made me feel so honoured and appreciated."

Many thanks
AJ

“When I started with Squidoo just a short seven months ago, I didn’t know what a Giant Squid was.  As I continued to learn about Squidoo and all the great offerings, I knew I wanted to become a part of this great group.  So, the quest began.

In January, 2010, I received the email telling me I was a Giant Squid.  I almost couldn’t contain myself.  I was so proud.  I had accomplished a great goal.  This meant my lenses were good.  I needed to hear that.  Since becoming a Giant, I have also been a SquidAngel.  This is another great honor for me.  Not only were my lenses good, but my opinion mattered, too.  Sharing is such a big part of Squidoo and the Giant Squid community.  I felt like I finally belonged.

I have made so many great friends in the Giant Squid Community.  There is a camaraderie like I have never experienced before.  Everyone helps everyone else. Everyone wants the others to succeed.  Whether you are a relative newbie, like me, or a veteran lensmaster, you are accepted for what you do.  It is a great place to be.  If you ask a question, you’ll get at least 4 or 5 answers.  Thank you for all you have done for me.  I so appreciate everything.” ~ Bethd821

Green Easter GiftsI had so much fun yesterday with the kids’ crafts I had to research more fun Easter lenses. This year we’re rethinking the Easter basket idea. Do the kids really need all that candy and junk? Practice what you preach about caring for our Earth with “green” Easter gifts that kids AND adults will love.

HSSchulte is helping you show off your eco-friendly side with crafts that allow you to reuse what would otherwise go in the garbage. Instead of buying new Easter baskets, make your own with strawberry baskets. Support fair trade industries by giving organic chocolate treats. If you’re truly crafty, try the organic dyes for eggs and confetti box made from an egg carton. How cute!

Did you know Squidoo is “green?” That’s right! By making money for yourself or charity using electronic publishing, you’re saving trees and making our world a better place.
