New Years Eve is known as an ultimate party night, so isn’t it ironic that it’s also the day we set strict standards for ourselves for the following year?

- lose weight
- get out of debt
- quit eating junk food

Isn’t it time we did something fun? Enter lensmaster Cherrybomb2009 and her Bucket List/Life Wish List. This isn’t your ordinary life to-do list. Along side the responsible goals you’ll find a long list of exciting goals we all have, even if we won’t admit them.

Some of my favs?

- get a job in a career I would love
- learn to cook vegan recipes
- take self-defense classes
- spend a day on a yacht and just RELAX

Many of us aren’t brave enough to write our goals, much less somewhere for the world to see. How would your life be different if you knew the whole world was rooting for you to achieve all you set out to do? When you’re crafting your ultimate 2010 to-do list, remember the fun stuff you want to accomplish in life. Go wild. Life is what you make it!

My office is next to a travel agency and I get to hear a bit about some of the wonderful places people visit over the holidays. Never having been out of the US, I’m fascinated by lifestyles in other countries, especially Europe, and most especially England.

In Family Holidays in Broadstairs, Kent, England, lensmaster prosperty66 brings a bit of travel to life with an incredible work of heart. She artfully matches photographs with personal stories about her travels from Brussels to England with her young son.  Reading how she managed a trip with a four-year-old is especially entertaining.

Great travel lenses are made with this same combination of images, stories, enthusiasm, and suggestions. No matter where you’ve traveled, your ideas can help someone else plan a better trip.  Now I know exactly where I want to visit first!

The SquidAngels are a lensmaster-driven group with the power and tools to promote great stuff. They get to bless lenses, which gives them a tiny, temporary LensRank boost, and nominate great lenses for LOTD and purple stars. They often run special contests, blogs, and lenses about their favorite niche items, and take pride in managing a SquidAngel lens where they often share their secrets with others. The best SquidAngel lenses have specific notes regarding what doesn’t and doesn’t fly, and SquidAngel Rajays has done a great job sharing some of these tips.

Rajays – Squidoo Angel is a collection of resources that describes what the SquidAngel program is how it works, and how any lensmaster can polish their lenses to benefit from a blessing. His top tips?
- change the default bio and photo
- write your own content
- tell your story with photos
- be passionate
- let us contact you

Of course, we all know, SquidAngel blessings aren’t the only reward. The same types of lenses that tend to get blessed tend to do well in other areas, like traffic, royalties, and promotion. If they’re great enough to be blessed, they’re doing other things right too!

And if you think that working hard, like Rajays, to promote the best of Squidoo is something you’d like to try, apply for a term of SquidAngelism, starting January 4th, 2010.

Angels are a special group of Squidoo lensmasters who help us promote the best of what they find on Squidoo. They bless lenses to give them a little LensRank boost, nominate lenses for LOTD, and nominate awesome Giant lenses for purple stars. Plus, they sometimes run fun little contests, blogs, and lenses to promote special niche lenses that they’re passionate about.

If this sounds like something fun YOU would love to do, and you have not yet served as SquidAngel, you can apply to participate in our first round of 2010 SquidAngels!

Send your Squidoo username, the email associated with your account, and “why I want to be a SquidAngel” to kimberly at squidoo.com by December 31st. We’ll pick up to 25 brand new lensmasters to be the first of the new year to help us shout out with pride all that is awesome on Squidoo.

There are only two more days to apply, and we’re looking forward to seeing YOU in wings!

Please don’t apply for the Giant Squid lensmaster or 100 club program…

If you already have a Giant Squid Lensmaster account. We only allow one Giant Squid account per lensmaster.

If you do not write your own articles. Giants always write their own ORIGINAL content.

If you don’t have the magic number of 50 or 100 published lenses. There are no exceptions, not even if you have 49 super fabulous lenses done.  In fact, if you are already a Giant and your account drops below 50 lenses, you will be removed from the program.

BUT…

If you have 50 or 100  awesome published lenses filled with your own, original, useful content please DO apply for the Giant Squid or 100 Club by sending the link to your bio page TODAY! We can’t wait to have you join us!

Turkey and stuffing and yams, oh my! Eating four days of leftovers can get boring, but there’s a new and exciting way to jazz up those fridge finds, especially the almighty turkey.

Leftover Turkey Recipes by AuntieKatKat isn’t your usual list of recipes. In fact, with blends like Enchilada Turkey Soup, Bistro Turkey Sandwich, and Turkey Spinach and Stuffing Bake, I’m wishing I’d saved ALL the turkey for leftovers! AuntieKatKat is sure to include photos with all her recipes, which is a must have for attractive, successful food lenses.

Most lensmasters think about holidays in terms of setting up, preparing, and hosting. A few sharp users know that post-holiday lenses, like this one, can be wildly successful as well. If you’re scouring your brain for lens ideas, think about all those things people do AFTER events. You might just come up with a winner!
