Lensmaster MikeMoore has put together a fabulous new contest for the Squidoo community! The Squidoo Choice Awards! has two parts.
1) Picking Categories which runs from now until the end of June. I voted for: The coolest avatar, The best charity lens and Best Tutorial Lens!
2) Nominating which runs until December 1st, 2009!
So get your picks in today and kudos to Mike for coming up with such a great contest!
How? Just build a Twttrlist. That's it!
"If you're responsible for Twttrlist #1000, 2000, 3000, 4000 or 5000, you win a Kindle. Up to the first 5,000 TwttrLists."
The Rules
how to win your Kindle
1. If you win, we'll send an email to
your address registered with Squidoo, asking for your snail mail
address so we can send you the Kindle.
2. If you don't get us your mailing address within 5 days, we'll give your Kindle to someone else.
3.
If you're one of the 'thousand milestone' winners, but your TwittrList
is spam or junk, the Kindle goes to the next person in line who made
and curated a useful, human, worthwhile list. We get to decide.
4. This Kindle giveaway is over on June 5th, or when we hit 5000 TwttrList lenses, whichever comes first. So hurry.
5.
If you win and you'd rather not get a Kindle, we'll donate approx $359
directly to the Squidoo-supported charity of your choice, instead.

Do you want to change the
world? The clock is ticking. Tick-Tock. I'd like to challenge every
single person to set a goal of where you want be by Sept 1, 2009.
That's 3 months, the entire Summer. Remember the clock is ticking.
Big or small. Makes no difference just as long as it's a constructive goal that will Change the World!
I a such a fan of Lens of the Day (LOTD) on Squidoo. I always look forward to seeing which lens get picked. Here's some great information about LOTD from Squidoo Editor-in-Cheif, Megan Casey from the LOTD blog:
Every weekday (or nearly that) Squidoo's Editor in Chief, Megan
Casey, highlights a lens that stands out from the crowd, a lens that is
unique in topic, approach, personality, tools or timing. Or, you know,
just a lens that made her guffaw a little.
If you find a lens you'd like to submit for LotD consideration, send it to us here.
RocketMoms is a new project on Squidoo that gives moms a place to congregate, inspire, learn, build (they had 6 projects and 2 extra credit lenses to work on this past 6 weeks) and share their passion for writing.
I am so proud, thrilled, elated and just plain happy to work with this amazing group of women. I wasn't quite sure what would happen during the 6 weeks, but I am over-the-top, scream from the roof tops happy with every single one of the RocketMoms. They have far exceeded my expectations and are building Giant Squid quality lenses at a record pace.
You can read a bit more about the project here on the SquidBlog and if like to join us for the next 8 week Summer session act now! Each RocketMom gets to invite 5 people and we'll be accepting just 30 spots for people that e-mail me directly at bonnie@squidoo.com. Only stipulation is that you've got to be a mom. Yes, grandmas count, so do step-moms and soon-to-be moms. So let me know if you'd like to join us for some super Summer fun…RocketMom style!
Here's what a few RocketMoms are saying about the program:
broaden my horizons.I have created some of my best lenses yet and it
has remotivated me in so many ways. I have learned a lot from other
Rocket Mom’s and its been an awesome experience thus far:) NaturalMommys
It’s just so amazing to be a part of such a great group of women and to
be able to be a part of an experience where we can all help each other
and watch each other grow and blossom as lensmasters and as women. I’m
just so grateful to Squidoo for giving me this awesome opportunity! ~
Bambi Watson aka: Mystic Mama
Well, before I got invited to Rocket moms I was getting very
discouraged. I didn’t realize how much work my Lenses still needed. But
with the support and help of all my Rocket Moms buddies my lens are
much better and I feel like I am accomplishing something. MsSnow4a
How cool is this?
Treasures-By-Brenda got to meet the author of the book that she wrote a lens about. Here's what she had to say:
I drove downtown to the Tulip Festival which was, of course,
magnificent and had a chance to chat with her. She made my day by
telling me she had enjoyed my page and had passed it along to her
publisher! As a bonus, I discovered her new book is about an amazing
site in Halifax, Nova Scotia that I have visited…I came home with an
autographed copy of her book and…another lens idea!

Just goes to show you that Squidoo is becoming bigger and more recognized everyday. Will your lens be next?
1) The support, camaraderie and joy I get from talking with other Giants.
2) Answering questions and helping people overcome challenges.
3) Being able to motivate and cheer lead the community.
4) Helping people achieve their goals.
5) Giving out Purple Stars.
6) Writing blog articles about new Modules and features.
7) The excitement I feel when people become Giants. I love sharing in their happiness.
Discovering a new lensmaster that has Giant potential.
9) Solving problems and brain storming.
10) Being able to be part of the most exciting community on the web.
PS – In case I haven't said it lately. Thank you to the Squidoo community for everything you do. You inspire me every day.
"The Giant Squid Challenge" now has a total of 608 NEW lenses! WOW. That is one impressive number and there are still 4 weeks left. At the current rate that could add up to 2,000 new lenses and loads of new Giant Squids. So keep those quality lenses coming in and don't forget to add them to your teams Plexo.
